Android Central Podcast
The Android podcast for everyone. A weekly show about Android, Google, and the best of mobile technology. Hosted by Daniel Bader.

Daniel Bader, Andrew Martonik, and Jerry Hildenbrand have all the leaks about Samsung's Galaxy S10 phones. 2019 is poised to be an exciting year when it comes to phone design — hole punches and foldables are coming in a big way. They also cover Galaxy X, Xiaomi, Honor 20 View, LG G8, and a throwback redo of the Motorola Razr.

And if you think you miss your headphone jack, be on the lookout for Vivo Apex 2019 and the Meizu Zero. Meizu Zero has no charging ports, and the Vivo Apex 2019 has no ports at all. It even does away with buttons in the process.

Daniel Bader and Andrew Martonik are joined by fellow Android Central writer and Smartwatch aficionado Joe Maring to talk about everything that's new in wearable tech and Google Wear OS. Nike has announced a new pair of self-lacing shoes, and Withings has a $70 watch that boasts 18 months of battery life. Mobvoi and Kate Spade have new watches as well.

Most significantly, Google has announced a 40 million dollar investment in tech from Fossil, and has acquired part of their R&D team. Is this a harbinger of a Pixel Watch, or just an example of Google helping build momentum behind Wear OS?

It's another live, beer-infused, cavalcade of stars on this week's show! This time, Daniel Bader, Andrew Martonik, Alex Dobie, Michael Fisher, Russell Holly, and Lory Gil come to you from CES 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

They talk about many of the gadgets from the show floor and explore the overall trends in products coming later this year. There aren't many new phones, but there's a continued push towards voice assistants, home automation, and Smart-Pretty-Much-Anything-You-Can-Think-Of devices.

Join us as we separate the wheat from the chaff so we can have some more tasty beers. Cheers!

Daniel Bader is joined this week by Carolina Milanesi, an Analyst for Creative Strategies. During their one-on-one conversation, they place a light on the broader smartphone market in relation to Apple — especially as it relates to Apple's poor performance in mainland China. Apple is no longer the benchmark against which all others are judged. Many players have emerged as smartphones have transitioned from to luxury to commodity items. Additionally, ecosystem lock-in diminishes in value due to features/services that are geographically restricted.

They also talk about Samsung, AKA the "Apple of the Android World" and what's happening with them around the world. Finally, they look at what you should (and should not) expect for CES.
